
SENATOR WOZNIAK HONORS LOCAL CHAMPIONSHIP CHEERLEADERS AT STATE CAPITOLHARRISBURG, May 18, 2004 – Five local championship cheerleading squads were honored today at the State Capitol to mark their victories in the 2003 Pennsylvania State Cheerleading Championships, state Sen. John N. Wozniak (D-Cambria) announced. Wozniak hosted the cheerleaders at his Harrisburg office, introducing each squad on the Senate floor and presenting congratulatory Senate citations to commemorate Pennsylvania’s annual “Cheerleader Day” celebration. “The remarkable performances of these local cheerleaders are a credit to their school districts and their communities,” Wozniak said. “Johnstown has the distinction of hosting the State Cheerleading Championships every year, and I am proud to say that Cambria County always turns out a bunch of winning teams.” The award-winning cheerleading squads are: § Conemaugh Valley Elementary School (Johnstown, Cambria County) – Elementary Division § Greater Johnstown Middle School (Johnstown, Cambria County) – Middle School Division § Richland Middle School (Johnstown, Cambria County) – Junior High Division § Bishop McCourt High School (Johnstown, Cambria County) – Small Varsity Division § Forest Hills High School (Sidman, Cambria County) – Varsity AAA Division § Turner’s Senior All-Stars – Senior All-Star Division ##### |
