WOZNIAK ANNOUNCES DEADLINE EXTENSION HARRISBURG, June 21, 2007 - State Sen. John Wozniak (D-Johnstown) today announced that the application deadline for Pennsylvania’s recently expanded Property Tax/Rent Rebate program has been pushed to December 31. “With the extended deadline, there is no reason that all eligible individuals cannot apply and receive a rebate,” Wozniak said. “I hope that our senior citizens and other eligible individuals take full advantage of this program.” Last year, Wozniak voted for legislation that more than doubled the income limit for the Property Tax/Rent Rebate Program to $35,000. Applicants can exclude half of their income earned from Social Security, Supplemental Security Income, and Railroad Retirement Tier 1 benefits when applying for a rebate. Wozniak said eligible applicants can sign up for a rebate application now either online at www.papropertytaxrelief.com or by calling toll-free at 1-888-222-9190. The rebate checks are based on property taxes or rent paid during 2006. Those individuals eligible for the program include Pennsylvanians age 65 and older; widows and widowers age 50 and older; and people with permanent disabilities over 18 years of age. |
