WOZNIAK ANNOUNCES OVER $375K IN LOCAL
ENERGY GRANTS HARRISBURG, November 15, 2007 - - State Sen. John Wozniak (D-Johnstown) today announced that he has secured grants totaling $378,830 for Saint Francis University under the Pennsylvania Energy Harvest Program. “This fine institution will surely benefit from this large amount of state funding to help advance their energy programs,” Wozniak said. “I am glad to support Energy Harvest grants that fund projects promoting and building markets for renewable energy technologies.” The first grant, for $303,830 will be used to continue the Pennsylvania Wind Assessment Program through the development of six community wind projects. The second grant, for $75,000, will be used to add a 44 well geothermal unit as part of the construction of a LEED certified university building. Since the Energy Harvest Program was launched in May 2003, Energy Harvest has awarded $21 million and leveraged another $51.9 million in private funds. Energy Harvest grants fund innovative energy deployment projects that emphasize protecting Pennsylvania’s air or water quality while supporting economic development and enhancing the quality of life in Pennsylvania. The Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection administers the grant program. # # # |
