WOZNIAK PUSHES FOR TAX-FREE ENERGY
PURCHASES MONTH HARRISBURG, September 18, 2007 - State Sen. John Wozniak (D-Johnstown) today announced that he will re-draft legislation that would make purchases of energy efficient home building and improvement items tax-free for the entire month of October in 2008. “This legislation would help save a lot of Pennsylvanians money not only in taxes at the purchase, but these items would help lower the cost of their energy bills,” Wozniak said. “These energy saving investments that would be tax-free for the month can provide energy bill savings for years to come.” The bill was originally introduced as Senate Bill 633 in the 2005-06 legislative session, but never made it to the Senate floor for a vote. Wozniak said tax-free items would include energy saving materials such as windows, insulation, and storm doors. “This is a great opportunity for the legislature to give an incentive to our constituents to improve their houses and make them more energy-efficient,” Wozniak said. “I look forward to working with my colleagues on both sides of the aisle on this bill designed to save money and energy.” |
