WOZNIAK ANNOUNCES RECYCLING GRANTS

HARRISBURG, October 24, 2007 - -
State Sen. John Wozniak (D-Johnstown) today announced that four recycling programs in his legislative district will receive a total of $95,365 in Recycling Performance Grants.

“These local programs are great examples of the good that recycling can do for our environment,” Wozniak said. “These well-deserved grants will continue to expand and improve the recycling in these townships.”

The grants, which are based on the amount recycled and the municipality’s population for the 2005 calendar year, were awarded as follows:

· Clinton County SWA will receive $42,849 for recycling 3,721.7 tons

· Clearfield County will receive $25,662 for recycling 2,733.9 tons

· Cambria County:
· Richland Township will receive $24,273 for recycling 2,426.5 tons
· Upper Yoder Township will receive $2,581 for recycling 249.9 tons

The Department of Environmental Protection’s (DEP) Recycling Performance Grant Program provides incentive for communities to increase recycling efforts and promote economic growth. The grants come in addition to funds that the DEP allocates annually to establish and maintain municipal recycling programs.
