WOZNIAK ANNOUNCES $600,000 ENERGY GRANT HARRISBURG, October 16, 2007 – State Sen. John Wozniak (D-Johnstown) today announced that he has helped secure a $600,000 grant for Kuchera Defense Systems in Somerset County. The Pennsylvania Energy Development Authority (PEDA) will administer the grant. “This grant will undoubtedly improve the capabilities of Kuchera Defense Systems,” Wozniak said. “Protecting our environment and rewarding those businesses taking strides to ensure this is something I will continue to pursue as a state Senator.” Wozniak, a PEDA board member, said that the grant would go towards establishing a “Center of Excellence” for Advancing Energy Systems Manufacturing at Windber, PA. This center will manufacture fuel cell components and provide employee training. This grant is part of the $6.1 million in competitive grants awarded to 16 clean, advanced energy projects in Pennsylvania by PEDA. PEDA promotes the development and use of Pennsylvania’s clean, indigenous energy resources and stimulates economic development and job creation in Pennsylvania’s growing energy sector. |
