WOZNIAK WEATHERIZATION PROPOSAL WINS COMMITTEE NOD

HARRISBURG, November 27, 2007 - -
State Sen. John Wozniak (D-Johnstown) today said he was pleased with committee approval of his legislation that would provide $15 million in state personal income tax credits to homeowners for weatherization projects.

The Senate Special Session Committee on Energy Policies unanimously approved the measure (Senate Bill 8).

“This bill would not only encourage homeowners to improve their houses, but it would also enable them to cut their utility costs while conserving energy,” Wozniak said. “This tax credit is a great way to encourage homeowners to embrace energy conservation.”

Wozniak said the tax credits awarded would not exceed $1,250 per homeowner. He said that eligible weatherization projects under his bill would include exterior windows and doors, storm doors insulation, home wrap and furnaces.

Wozniak said he expects the full Senate to vote on this bill before the Special Session on Energy concludes.
