WOZNIAK: STATE EFFORTS LAND 150 NEW JOBS FOR JOHNSTOWN

JOHNSTOWN, Feb. 25, 2008
-With encouragement from the state, a health-care service company will bring about 150 jobs to Johnstown, Sen. John N. Wozniak said today.

TMS Health LLC offers customized marketing and customer service support to its clients in pharmaceuticals and health care. The Johnstown operation will support its growth plans, including a new division - TMS Professional - that focuses on non-healthcare clients.

“We have been working hard to replace the jobs of the industrial economy with opportunities in emerging markets,” Wozniak said. “This presents an another opportunity for the people of the region to show that can do the job if the jobs are there.”

Wozniak is working with Gov. Ed Rendell’s Action Team to find ways to attract new employers to Pennsylvania. The state provided a $353,000 funding offer that included a $223,000 loan through the machinery and equipment loan fund, as well as a $130,000 opportunity grant.

“If we want businesses to invest in Pennsylvania, then Pennsylvanians have to invest in Pennsylvania,” Wozniak said. “There is enormous competition to land new employers and we have to be ready to fight for good jobs.”

The Governor’s Action Team project already helped to create about 50 positions with the company, which supports pharmaceutical and healthcare businesses.
