WOZNIAK REMINDS EMERGENCY VOLUNTEERS TO APPLY FOR GRANTS

HARRISBURG, Sept. 3, 2008 State Sen. John N. Wozniak is reminding volunteer fire companies and ambulance services that applications are now online for state grants up to $15,000.

The deadline to apply for the Volunteer Fire Company / Volunteer Ambulance Service state grants is Oct. 17.

“Changing lifestyles and runaway inflation have put tremendous pressure on our emergency service volunteers,” Wozniak said. “These grants can help take the fundraising burden off the volunteers to allow them to concentrate on training and responding to emergencies.”

The program provides fire companies with up to $15,000 and ambulance services with up to $10,000 for construction or renovation of facilities, purchase or repair of equipment, or debt reduction.

Eligible projects initiated on or after July 1st 2008 and completed prior to disbursement of grant program funds may be considered as eligible projects for the current grant year.
