HARRISBURG, Nov. 4, 2011 – State Sen. John N. Wozniak and state Rep. Gary Haluska announced today a $3.2 million grant for the construction of the Patton Wind Farm in Cambria County.
“Pennsylvania has been a leader in development of alternative energy and this grant will help continue that momentum,” Wozniak said. “The economy of the 21st century will depend on our ability to innovate and develop new technology.”
The grant was awarded by the Commonwealth Financing Authority (CFA) and was approved under the Renewable Energy program.
“I am very supportive of the Patton Wind Farm and look forward to seeing this and other green energy projects take place in our region to help us to break away from our dependence on foreign oil,” Haluska said.
Patton Wind Farm, LLC of New York will receive the grant for the purchase and installation of 15 wind turbines in Elder, West Carroll and East Carroll townships. The equipment used for the project will be purchased from Gamesa, a significant local employer.
The turbines will create a 30 megawatt wind farm, expected to produce 94,600,000 kWhs annually.
